Here are our top SGP picks for Week 16, each tied to a clear story the data suggests could play out.

Bryce Young cooks the Tampa Bay Buccaneers secondary and secures the win

Over the past month, no defense has allowed more yards per dropback than the Buccaneers, who have struggled all season against the pass and rank fifth-worst in yards allowed per dropback. At the same time, Tampa Bay has been elite against the run, ranking top-five in both EPA allowed per rush and rushing success rate allowed, making them one of the clearest pass-funnel defenses in the NFL.

While the Panthers have leaned run-heavy on the season, they’ve shown a willingness to spike passing volume in specific matchups, including a 14% pass-over-expected game just a few weeks ago. This profiles as another spot where Bryce Young should be forced to drop back early and often against a Buccaneers secondary that has consistently struggled to hold up.

SGP Build: 18-1
  • QB Bryce Young: 270+ passing yards & 32+ pass attempts
  • Carolina Panthers: Moneyline

Adonai Mitchell connects on deep balls vs. New Orleans Saints single-high coverage

Over the last six weeks, the Saints have leaned heavily into single-high coverage, using it on nearly 65% of defensive snaps — the second-highest rate in the NFL over that span.

Mitchell has done most of his damage against single-high coverage, averaging nearly 2.3 yards per route run while operating with one of the deeper average target depths in the Jets offense.

The Saints have allowed the 10th-highest average depth of target this season, putting Mitchell in a prime spot for both targets and high-value opportunities downfield. With Mitchell likely matched up against Quincy Riley — who owns an 80.0 PFF grade — a few successful deep shots could be enough for Mitchell to clear his prop and help lift both Cook and the Jets offense.

SGP Build: 150-1 on DraftKings
  • WR Adonai Mitchell: 90+ receiving yards & anytime TD
  • QB Brady Cook: 270+ passing yards
  • New York Jets: Moneyline

The San Francisco 49ers offense is its usual, efficient self

The Colts’ defense has struggled badly to generate disruption, an area where Brock Purdy has consistently thrived.

Indianapolis has shifted from a zone-heavy approach to more man coverage, but without the personnel to support it. With Sauce Gardner and Charvarius Ward out, the Colts are relying on cornerbacks who rank in the bottom 10 of PFF coverage grades, and the result has been a near-total lack of disruption.

On the season, the Colts rank second-worst in the NFL in disruption rate, affecting just 40% of plays. That number has dipped even further over the past month to 36%, underscoring a defense that simply isn’t doing enough to speed quarterbacks up — a dangerous problem against a passer like Purdy.

For Brock Purdy and this 49ers offense, that’s about as ideal a scenario as it gets. Purdy has been dominant when kept clean and undisturbed, ranking third in the NFL in EPA per play in those situations.

If the Colts fall into a negative game script with Philip Rivers under center and limited ability to push the ball downfield, this sets up additional volume for San Francisco. That would allow the 49ers to efficiently move the ball through Purdy early, then lean on Christian McCaffrey to bleed the game out on the ground against a Colts run defense that sits roughly middle of the pack across most metrics.

SGP Build: 90-1 on DraftKings
  • QB Brock Purdy: 300+ passing yards & Under 33.5 attempts
  • RB Christian McCaffrey: 100+ rushing yards
