A new playground has opened in Almuñécar on Granada province's Costa Tropical. The new facility, which was officially inaugurated by the town hall on Friday 13 March, is located on the Paseo del Altillo promenade and improves the family leisure offer in one of the areas most frequented by residents and visitors.

The project has involved the installation of new attractions including a pirate ship, a giant crab and a monkey swing existing games have been improved with the aim of renovating and modernising this children's play area located in the vicinity of the beach.

Which parks have been modernised in Almuñecar?

Mayor Juan José Ruiz Joya emphasised that this is part of a broader town-wide renovation. Families visiting the area should also note these recently modernised parks:

  • El Majuelo and Torrecuevas

  • La Herradura and El Moruno

  • Santa Cruz and Río Verde

Mayor of Almuñécar Juan José Ruiz Joya said during the inauguration that "playgrounds are meeting places for families and form part of the quality of life of our neighbours, which is why the town hall continues to work to offer modern, safe and attractive facilities for children".

He went on to say that recent projects modernise other public spaces in the town have included El Majuelo, Torrecuevas, El Pozuelo, La Herradura, El Moruno and Santa Cruz and Río Verde parks.

There are plans to carry out improvements to Las Maravillas, La Paloma and La Carrera de la Concepción parks and a the future neurodivergent park, a space designed to promote inclusive and adapted play.
